My research areas are macroeconomics, energy economics, and time series econometrics. Most of my published research has in some way involved oil prices, macroeconomic forecasting, or both.

I teach Intermediate Macroeconomics (ECON 510) and Economic Forecasting (ECON 686) at the undergraduate level. I teach graduate courses in Time Series Econometrics (ECON 935) and Macroeconometrics (ECON 910) in alternating years. I have also taught Principles of Macroeconomics, Econometrics II (core PhD course), International Trade (undergraduate), International Finance (graduate), and Monetary Economics (graduate), but do not currently plan to teach those courses again.

I completed my PhD in Economics at Texas A&M University in 2002, where I wrote a dissertation under the direction of Norman Swanson. I was an assistant professor in the economics department at East Carolina University from 2002 to 2004. I was a visiting professor in the economics department at Sogang University (Korea) in 2012.
